In the 90th we owned the Swedish wine import company Via Domitia, which was specialized on Languedoc wine. Now, as retired and living in Languedoc, we are still interested in wine and have the opportunity to have our former producers nearby and also to explore many new vine-yards. We like to share that experience with you in this guide.

List of producers to visit

Most wine producers in south of France are unlike many other areas in France and elsewhere, ordinary, sometimes quite small, farmers that control their production in every step. Some of them prefer to leave their harvest to a cooperative they are share-owners of and in those cases the cooperative also sell the wine. When you visit the individual farmers - remember it is often their home you visit. They mostly welcome visitors most days of the week except during lunch time.
We do not sort the wines as to their classification as some producers produce wine of a number of classification due to different regulations.
We do not recommend special wines, as the character can differ a lot from year to year. The list of recommended producers is simply a list of those who, in our opinion. produce excellent wine. Sometimes though, we can not help mentioning a special cuvée that we have fallen in love with and we have found has a very stable quality over the years.

The list bellow is just what we have visited and liked during the last years. There are many more that we knew years ago and there are hundreds very good producers that we do not know of. EXPLORE YOURSELVES!
